In the history of our company, we have completed several hundred implementation projects, for hundreds of clients, working with dozens of leading Dynamics 365 implementation partners from around the world. We have carried out these projects in accordance with all leading implementation methodologies (such as PRINCE2, PMBOK) as well as a specialised methodology of Microsoft Sure Step.
Based on this experience, we agree with the client on the detailed way in which the project will be conducted, from the fundamental choice between a cascading (Waterfall) or iterative (e.g. agile) project, to the document templates that will be used. Regardless of the implementation methodology used, we use the highest standards and best implementation practices collected in Microsoft Success by Design.
First of all, it should be stated that Success by Design is not an implementation methodology, i.e. it is not a detailed description of the organisation and steps of an implementation project. Instead, it is a supplement to the implementation methodology, providing quality control and technical recommendations at key implementation stages, increasing their effectiveness and reducing risk. This set of guidelines, best practices and implementation quality assessments was created by Microsoft based on more than 3,000 actual Dynamics 365 implementation projects. Success by Design is used by Microsoft as part of its “FastTrack for Dynamics 365” programme, where the largest Dynamics 365 implementations are monitored and supported by Microsoft architects. In projects where, due to size, Microsoft does not offer its support, it is recommended that an experienced Solution Architect, from outside the project team, is involved to support the implementation using the principles and recommendations of Success by Design.
